This summer, the National Geographic Society will help fund the
excavation of a possible mass grave in Tulsa. DNA analysis may
connect the deceased to descendants alive today, possibly paving the
way for payment of insurance claims that were never honored. The
excavation is just one part of Tulsa’s effort to reckon with the past and
bring back a thriving black business community. Acclaimed Director,
Dawn Porter (John Lewis: Good Trouble, Gideon’s Army) will tell this
powerful story timed to release with the National Geographic Magazine
June 2021 cover story and the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre.
